What to check in this category

Jackets carry the most detail-dependent risk in this directory. Hardware, lining and shell fabric are rarely spelled out on a listing, so the photos matter more than the title.

• Work out which layer is actually being sold — shell only, lined, or insulated — from the photos and text.
• Note how zips, snaps and drawcords look now; they are the parts most visible in any inspection photo later.
• Outerwear is heavier, so shipping will be a larger share of your total than for a lighter item.
